In an interview with the American television network CBS, James Cameron, director of the film Titanic, revealed that he dived more than 30 times at the site with the wreck of the ship that sank in 1912.
I feel very connected to the story, having dived the wreck 33 times. The more you study, the more you become fascinated with the story of the Titanic. I always say how fragile she is. You think you understand it until you get closer and see that there’s a lot more complexity to the story.

The director also commented on the ship’s items being auctioned:
Here’s where you get into a gray area. They have to fund these collections somehow. They have to finance their travels around the world by showing them off. I think when you sell them and they go to a private place and they’re never seen again, that crosses the line. When you see these glasses, you think, ‘Who was this person? What did she experience him? It connects you to the story.
Titanic, released in 1997, is a romantic film based on the true events of the sinking of the RMS Titanic, a British passenger liner that collided with an iceberg on her maiden voyage from Southampton (England) to New York, in 1912.
The film explores the historic event with fictional characters Jack Dawson (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Rose DeWitt Bukater (Kate Winslet), who fall in love during the journey.
The film Titanic it was one of the most expensive in history, with a budget of $200 million. The success was also enormous: it won 11 statuettes at the 1998 Oscars, including the prizes for best picture and best director.
