I felt close to Travis Bickle (Robert De Niro), I had compassion and sympathy for him.”

Later you realize that he’s a sociopath and that he’s completely crazy! The scene is when he betrays you for the first time, you wonder why he does this …”
And DiCaprio concludes: “I was really embarrassed for him, and that’s never happened to me. I’ve been sad for a character, or angry at a character. But I’ve never been embarrassed. That’s what Scorsese does best. Exploring these dark and uncomfortable. Areas of the human condition are what Strengthens him as a filmmaker.”
