‘Live is life’: We exclusively show you this preview of the film

Dani de la Torre directs a story written by Albert Espinosa.

The 80s have not left fiction. Neither the international nor the national. For example, there is the film that will be released next week in theaters, ‘Live is life’. A story set in that decade and nourished by referents of the cinema of those years, the referents with which its director has grown, Daniel of the Tower (‘The stranger’, ‘The shadow of the law’ or the series ‘The Unit’).

It is the summer of 1985. Rodri returns to the Galician town of his parents to reunite with his gang. But this year is different for him and his friends. Real world problems begin to creep into their lives threatening to tear them apart. The five friends plan to escape on the night of San Juan in search of a magical flower that, according to legend, grows on top of a mountain and can make wishes come true. Because his only wish now is to solve the problem of his friend in trouble and thus be able to continue together. What they do not know is that this trip will leave them with a memory forever.

Albert Espinosa (‘Red Bracelets’, ‘4th Floor’) is in charge of this script directed by Of the tower. The story of ‘Live is life’, a hymn to friendship, talks about that adult who refuses to stop being a child. All this narrated with a dose of adventures, a touch that de la Torre wanted to add to the writer.

The film marks the debut of the five leading boys on the big screen. Adrian Baenabrings Rodrigo to life. John of the Well Y Raul of the Well They are the brothers Ɓlvaro and Maza. David Rodriguez is suso and Javier Casellas plays Garriga.

This production, shot last year, in the midst of a pandemic, has been shot mostly in unique and special locations in Galicia, focusing especially on La Ribeira Sacra in addition to having part in Barcelona. De la Torre, a native of Monforte de Lemos, considered that bringing history to his land was crucial for him, as he acknowledged in this interview for FOTOGRAMAS. The resulting story is the fruit of hours of conversation with Espinosa. “We both talked a lot about the friends around us, so this group is a mix of everyone. Of course, I identify a lot with one of them and Albert with another.“, he claimed. As expected, the film’s title song has been present from the beginning “and expresses the spirit of the film very well,” the filmmaker acknowledged.

The movie ‘Live is life’ hits theaters this coming Friday, June 3.
