“Elementos”: Pixar release leads the box office in Brazil

Even with a surprisingly bad debut in the United States, the film “Elementos” seems to have changed, at least in Brazil. Pixar’s new animation debut surpassed films like ‘Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Verse’ and ‘The Flash’ and leads the domestic box office in its first week in theaters.

“Elementos” hits Brazilian theaters on June 15th. See this week’s ranking — considering June 22-25:

US Premiere of “Elements”

As much as the animation has support in Brazil, the US premiere caused Pixar some concern. In its opening weekend (Friday to Sunday), the film grossed US$29.6 million (R$141.1 million), making it the studio’s worst grossing since the first “Toy Story” film in 1995. .

Other names, such as “O Bom Dinossauro” (2015) and “Dois Irmãos: Uma Jornada Fantástica” (2020) also surprised negatively in their releases, grossing around US$39 million (R$185.9 million ) in the United States.

The initial performance of “Elements” should prompt Pixar to develop strategies that include this negative return, even before the releases scheduled for the next few days. After the initial scare, the animation has managed to get back on its feet and already registers over 121 million US dollars (R$ 577 million) at the worldwide box office.
