Less Sex in My Window: Why a Netflix Sequel Is Smarter? The actors answer!

This is the number one Netflix box of the moment: Through My Window: Love to the Horizon, a Spanish novel for young adults, has conquered the platform’s subscribers.

Through My Window, this feature film adapted from Ariana Godoy’s fiction Fifty Shades of Gray and Beyond, follows the romance between Raquel (Clara Galle) and Ares (Julio Peña).

The first film has already hit the streaming service, and it’s no wonder the sequel is so popular. Fans were able to witness Raquel and Ares reunite after a year of long distance relationship due to their respective studies.

But what was supposed to be a romantic summer vacation turns into a nightmare as the two lovers begin to doubt their relationship and future. They each have their own little secrets that come to the surface and new suitors that get in the way of their romance.

Less sex scenes through my window

And this includes many scenes of arguments and tough conversations between the two characters. Which also means less sex scenes, which shocked some internet users in the first installment. Which was to the taste of the actors, even if it required them to be more emotionally involved.

The two main actors revealed this in an interview with our colleagues SensaCine. Clara Galle, who plays Raquel, explained that filming was difficult for both types of scenes:

“When we shot the first film, we did such a scene for the first time. In the second one we go through the passion, there are more nuanced scenes and you have to achieve a certain emotion for the audience to understand it. The relationship is falling apart. Besides, I don’t think the intimate scene exists for no reason.”

Same story on the side of Julio Peña, who plays Ares. For him, the sex scenes in the film exist for a good reason, because they serve the plot, and if they are fewer, it is because there are enough of them:

“We have a fantasy scene at the beginning that makes a lot of sense because of the fantasy stuff. And then we have two more that say a lot about their relationship at the time. And that sequence is enough and worthwhile.”

If there are fewer sex scenes, it’s because Raquel and Ares’ relationship is the worst, and it wasn’t helpful to have too many in this second feature film that ends badly for the two lovers.

But don’t worry, a third installment titled Through My Window: Eyes to Eyes is scheduled for 2024 on Netflix. A post-credits teaser was even included at the end of the second film, L’Amour pour Horizon.

Fans will only have a year to wait to find out if the romance between Raquel and Ares will return to their former passion, or if the fire will surely die out after the tragic events of the second film.
