Joe and Anthony Russo’s Avengers: Endgame is the final Phase 3 film in the Marvel Connected Universe, coming out a few months before Jon Watts’ Spider-Man: Far From Home. These films completed eleven years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since Iron Man was released in 2008.
Avengers: Endgame is set five years after the events of Avengers: Infinity War, where the superheroes lost to Thanos. The latter used the Infinity Stones to wipe out half the world’s population with the snap of his fingers. Unable to find a way to fix this tragedy, everyone is depressed and/or feeling defeated. Until the arrival of a certain Scott Lang, aka Ant-Man!
Endgame grossed $2.79 billion worldwide, a triumph that temporarily became the biggest hit of all time before passing Avatar again. It also helped make 2019 a record-breaking year with a total of 42.5 billion at the global box office.
