Elemental: Do these characters mean nothing to you? It’s normal!

Elementary, Pixar’s latest project orchestrated by director Peter Sohn, commemorates the coexistence of the four elements – fire, water, earth and air – in Element City. A very personal story, inspired by her own story, through which she wanted to honor her parents’ memory, journey and sacrifice.

The feature film, currently in theaters, marks the director’s third collaboration with Pixar Studios. Before signing his first feature film with Le Voyage d’Arlo in 2015, Peter Sonne was discovered with a short film, the memorable Passages Nuageux, released in 2009. The product was symbolically represented by the element of air, as its title suggests.

Inspired by the Alsatian legend of baby-carrying, Partly cloudy Saw personified clouds responsible for conceiving newborn humans and animals with their powers. Then we discover the adventures of some clumsy cloud and his partner, the faithful stork, who are confronted by some rather dangerous babies…

If no elementary and Partly cloudy Not to tell you a similar story, but we can point out a very clear similarity between Gus, the cloud of the short film, and the Aériens, the air elementals of Element City, led by the character of Alize Cumulus. Apart from the nature of the cloud, the design of these steamy heroes is very close overall.

It was enough, on social networks, several netizens supported the idea that Gus is a native of Element City. If it hasn’t been confirmed yet (maybe a video release during the Easter Egg Hunt elementary ?), this tantalizing idea fits perfectly into the grand theory that all Pixar movies are connected.

In the meantime, one thing’s for sure: Pixar has been encouraging us to keep our heads in the clouds for nearly 30 years…
