Soon we will see Uma Thurman again in the cinema, but not on the big screens. Deadline has reported that the 52-year-old American actress will play the first female president of the United States in a new romantic comedy from Amazon’s Prime Video streaming service. The film is based on Casey McQuiston’s best-selling teen novel Red, White & Royal Blue.
The book tells about a teenager, Alex Claremont-Diaz, who, after his mother is elected the first woman president of the United States (Uma Thurman will play her role), becomes a popular favorite. According to the synopsis, the hero has a long history of feuding with Britain’s Prince Henry, and when a photo of a quarrel between them appears in the tabloids one day, US-British relations deteriorate.
The film will also feature Taylor Zahar Perez, Nicholas Galitzin, Clifton Collins Jr., Stephen Fry, Sarah Shahi, Rachel Hilson and others. The project will be directed by playwright and aspiring director Matthew Lopez. The film will be his debut work.
