The Witcher on Netflix: Season 3 is so much better! And here’s why

The Witcher is back, much to the delight of fans. This season 3 adapts to the screen The Time of Contempt, the fourth volume of the literary saga The Witcher, written by writer Andrzej Sapkowski.

Ciri, bearer of destructive power and descendant of the first elf, finds herself at the center of all desires. His father wants him to be with him, the elves are counting on him to make their people prosper when the North is cut off from him.

The young girl, who trained as a witch in Season 2, can count on Geralt and Yennefer’s help to hide well while she learns to control her powers. But the noose tightens around him and he has no choice but to take a stand and choose a side. The White Wolf and the Witch simultaneously investigate to find out who sent the dreaded killer after Ciri. And the answer may be surprising to many…

The final season of Henry Cavill

This information is impossible to miss when you are a fan of The Witcher. Henry Cavill – the flawless interpreter of Gerald de Rive – will leave the series at the end of season 3 due to artistic differences. A choice that the actor did not make easily, because he loved his character and the world. Therefore, this final season takes on another dimension, and we connect more with this magnanimous Witcher.

Henry Cavill gives it his all, especially during the fight scenes, where the choreography is top notch, as are the special effects. It’s more violent and graphic, as evidenced by this video that Netflix released during TUDUM.

A tougher plot

Let’s be honest, the Witcher universe isn’t easy to understand – especially when you’ve seen the spin-off Legacy of Blood and the anime The Nightmare of the Wolf. After an above-average season 2 that took liberties with Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels, this season 3 is more faithful to his writing. Netflix primarily chose to split it into two parts – in line with its new strategy – which avoids the usual soft underbelly and has a more compact plot.
