Jean-Marc Peirfit, director and president of Tiger, died at the age of 47

Disappearances as sudden as they are brutal. Director Jean-Marc Peyrefitt, who had signed on to produce the 2022 film The Tiger and the President, died on June 22 at his home. He was 47 years old. The statement was published by the site Alumni of Purpan, which brings together former students of the engineering school he graduated from. A trained agronomist, Jean-Marc Peirefit was purely self-taught and never studied film.

Author, director, but also actor, he started his career in the early 2000s by signing several short films, some of which received awards, and also recorded the shows of several artists such as Nicolas Canteloupe or Pierre Richard.

The latter honored him by posting a message on his Instagram account. “He is no longer there, Jean-Marc Peyrefit, and we miss him so much! He was love, a poet. So intelligent and yet so relevant. So talented and yet humble. He will make them miserable.”

Released in September 2022, The tiger and the president was his first feature film. The delicious tandem of Jacques Gamblin and Andre Dussolier depicted the rivalry between Georges Clemenceau (the famous Tiger, played here by Dussolier) and the newly elected but unknown President of the Republic, Paul Deschanel, at the turn of the century. 1920s. A political and historical comedy that received favorable critical acclaim, but unfortunately didn’t quite shine at the box office, pulling in just over 184,000 viewers.
