If you like Black Mirror (and zombies), I recommend the first series from its creator Charlie Brooker!

Netflix’s No. 1 series Black Mirror has made a triumphant return for its sixth season. Even if these new episodes take a different direction, TV’s scariest dystopian series has been warning us about the excesses of new technology since 2011.

The anthology takes us far into the near future and, with a dark and satirical tone, questions the probable consequences of our use of new technologies and their impact on our humanity.

But before Black Mirror, Charlie Brooker created another landmark series that already represented the beginnings of the ideas that made Black Mirror. So if you’ve already watched all the seasons of the Netflix series and finished season 6, I suggest you discover Dead Set.

Made in 2008, Dead Set takes us behind the scenes of the British version of the Big Brother reality TV show (which gave us Loft Story or even Secret Story). Except that the shooting of this entertainment and the rest of the world will be disrupted due to the invasion of zombies.

It all starts in primetime Big Brother when riots break out across England. The broadcast of the show is in danger, but producer Patrick (Andy Nyman) wants to stay on the air at all costs and tortures his assistants.

But the riots are actually caused by a planetary invasion of zombies, which will sow chaos in the world, as well as on the set and in the loft. Almost the entire audience and the entire stage crew die.

Only producer Patrick and assistant Kelly (Jaime Winstone) survived the carnage, but also the remaining Big Brother contestants, who will do anything to survive. As a joke, Dead Set even has cameos from former contestants from the real Big Brother seasons.
