Ryan Murphy’s monster anthology series has found its cast for a new season called Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story. according to DeadlineThis second season of the Netflix series, which follows Dahmer – Monster: The Story of Jeffrey Dahmer, has entrusted two young actors, Cooper Koch and Nicolas Alexander Chavez.
Cooper Koch will play Eric, and Nicholas Alexander Chavez will play Lyle. Monsters: The Lyle and Eric Menendez Story follows Season 1, which captivated Netflix subscribers and launched a franchise that focused on serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, played by Evan Peters.
The second season tells the story of the brothers who were convicted in 1996 of the murders of their parents, Jose and Mary Luis “Kitty” Menendez. Although they eventually confessed to the parricide, they have long maintained that their actions were motivated by physical, emotional and sexual abuse.
The case continues to unfold in real time following new developments revealed in May. Eric and Lyle Menendez filed the documents for a new hearing in response to allegations by former Menudo band member Roy Rossello, who claims he was molested by Jose Menendez when he was 14 years old.
It’s not yet known what part of the Menendez brothers’ lives the second season will cover, but Netflix also has plans to make a documentary about the two brothers that they will have access to.
Both Cooper Koch and Nicolas Alexander Chavez are newcomers to the Hollywood industry. It’s a safe bet that their popularity will skyrocket with Ryan Murphy hosting the series.
Koch appeared in the first season of the Starz series Power Book II: Ghost as Chase. He recently starred in the horror films Swallowed and They/Them. As for Chavez, he currently plays Spencer Cassadine in General Hospital on ABC.
Netflix and Ryan Murphy declined to comment, but it’s understood the casting was done before the writers’ strike and that the American Horror Story co-creator has not been involved in any activity on the project since the strike began.
