At a press conference in the United States, Ed Cassano got emotional talking about the accident
Chief Executive Officer of Pelagic Research Services, Ed Cassanohe was the first person to see the wreck of the submarine Titan, imploded during an expedition on the Titanic. At a press conference in the United States, Cassano got emotional talking about the accident and explained what would have caused the implosion.
According to the newspaper Mirrorwhen asked what went wrong, the expert replied, “They pushed it past its depth rate.”
Cassano also said it took about an hour and a half for the marine robot used by Pelagic to return with the wreckage after it was found.
It is unclear when the implosion occurred, as the submarine has been missing for more than four days. However, there are indications that the implosion occurred on Sunday the 18th, the same day as the disappearance, since the US Navy detected an “anomaly” that day.
Nonetheless, Cassano clarified that he and his team hoped to find the submersible’s occupants still alive. They had organized an operation to rescue the passengers.
Still at the conference, Cassano preferred not to comment on the performance of OceanGate, the company that owns the Titan. “I don’t really have an opinion,” he said. “Explorers, people who like to go further… it’s a passion and a pleasure to explore. We certainly share these desires,” he said.
