More trash than a sausage sizzle party? This new animated film may be the dirtiest yet

It’s been seven years since Sausage Party, possibly the lamest animated film of all time, hit theaters. In the United States, the comedy was approved for adults only (rated R), and in France the film was banned for children under 12. The reason: a lot of jokes that lie below the belt – in the full sense of the word.

But as our colleagues at FilmStarts recall, despite its controversial subject matter, the film was a bit of a success, grossing $141 million on a $19 million budget, dethroning South Park as the highest-grossing R-rated animated film ever. It is therefore not surprising that the concept of “adult cartoon” is now being used. by Fixed, also produced by Sony, Sausage party It may finally have a worthy successor.

What are you doing?

Fixed Follows the adventures of a dog, a bull, who needs to be neutered and wants to spend one last cool evening with his friends Rocco, Fetch and Lucky before his big surgery. And then there’s the neighbor’s dog, Han, who has long loved the bull. Of course, this begs the question: is the bull born on this last night? However, he doesn’t have much time for such a final mission…

Sony announced it in 2020, but we haven’t heard much about the project since then. Now that we know which stars will be lending their voices to the animals in the feature film (original version), things have to change. Bull will definitely be voiced by Adam Devine (Pitch Perfect) and Honey by Kathryn Hahn (Bad Moms, WandaVision). Additionally, Luther star Idris Elba will lend his voice to Rocco, Fred Armisen (Wednesday) Fetch and Bobby Moynihan (Saturday Night Live) to Lucky.

Now it remains to be seen when the Gennady Tartakovsky-signed film will hit theaters and whether it will be as daring as expected. However, you won’t have to wait long to see the cheeky, low-key dogs on the big screen. The comedy Backstreet Dogs, trailer for which is below in VO, hits theaters on November 29, 2023 — beware, the dogs here are “real,” not animated. Among the voice actors we can find Will Ferrell, Jamie Foxx or even Isla Fisher.

In the meantime, Sausage Party should be streaming again on Amazon Prime Video.
