Russell Crowe highlighted that his character is dead and that he will not return in the film’s sequel
Russell Crowe can’t bear to hear any more questions about gladiator 2. Directed by Ridley Scottthe film should be released in November 2024, but the interpreter of the protagonist Maximus in the first feature film did not participate in the new project.
“They should be paying me for the amount of questions I get about a film I’m not even a part of,” he told journalists at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival, held in the Czech Republic (via Variety).
“It has nothing to do with me,” he continued. “In that world, I’m dead. Six feet under the ground. But I admit there’s a bit of envy because it reminds me of when I was younger and what that meant in my life.”
Although it highlights that it has nothing to do with the new film, Crowe praised the work of Scott and demonstrated that he believes there is good reason to produce a sequel after so long: “I don’t know anything about the cast, the plot. I’m dead! But I know that if Ridley decided to make another part of history, after more than 20 years, he must have very strong motives. This movie can only be spectacular.”
