A Brazilian women’s soccer team ended its preparation for the World Cup on a high by beating Chile 4-0 this Sunday at the Mané Garrincha stadium. Elected six times best player in the world by FIFA, Marta played the last minutes of the match and proved to be in perfect condition to compete in the main tournament of the sport.

In 2023, Brazil has played five friendlies. They beat Japan (1-0), Germany (2-1) and Chile (4-0), and lost to Canada (2-0) and the United States (2-1). He also played the Final with England. After a 1-1 draw, they were defeated on penalties.

The wait is now for the debut in the World Cup. The first match will be against Panama, on July 24 (Monday), at 8:00 (Brasilia time), at the Hindmarsh Stadium, in Adelaide, Australia.

Even before the ball rolled, the CBF decided to pay homage to the national team by calling 11 former players who defended Brazil in past generations. Participated in the action: Marisa, Fia, Leda Maria, Pelezinha, Cebola, Flordelis, Solange, Monaliza, Magali, Nani, Andreza and Sandra Cristina.

As soon as the match started, Brazil started their tour. With just four minutes remaining, Nycole received it down the right and crossed for Gabi Nunes, who appeared between two markers to head into the back of the net, into goalkeeper Canales’ corner.

Despite the Brazilian dominance, Chile has been scary at times. In the 5th minute Urrutia asks for a good save from Letícia. Soon after, Araya hit the post with a free kick down the right, surprising the Brazilian defence.

The scare didn’t bother the Brazilian team, who increased in the 28th minute, Antônia put the ball in Duda Sampaio’s head. The steering wheel went straight for the 2 to 0. The third went out in the first half. In the 34th minute Luana takes the left foot at the entrance to the area and takes for a corner.

Brazil came back for the second half at an intense pace and scored the fourth after four minutes. Tamires advanced to the left and crossed Geyse. The striker headed Canales’ left corner and made it 4 – 0. With a big lead, the Brazilian team settled down and “sat down” on the result.

As time went on, the crowd started asking for Marta and frustrated Pia’s plans to save the number 10 shirt. In the 28th minute she entered the field and cheered the more than 15,000 fans present at the Mané Garrincha stadium.

Marta fought, called the game, but failed to score, nothing that could interfere with the great and last performance of the Brazilian team before the World Cup.

The Brazilian delegation travels on a charter flight with the 26 players to Australia this Monday. The match will take place at 5 in the morning.
