The Brazilian team overcomes Venezuela and wins the second of AmeriCupW

The selection won its second AmeriCupW match this Saturday. Seeking to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Brazil beat Venezuela 90-76, enough to maintain their lead in Group A at the tournament held in León, Mexico.

Responsible for 17 points, Damiris finished as Brazil’s top scorer, while Kamilla shone with 15 points and 15 rebounds. Sassá (16 points) and Tainá (14 points) also had decisive performances for the Selection against their Venezuelan rivals.

“Important victory. We are only at the beginning of the championship, but we managed to correct the mistakes and look for another victory. Now we have to work and think about Argentina already,” said Sassá, quoting the scheduled duel at 17:40 (Brasilia time) this Monday right.

“Venezuela played a great collective game, it showed against the United States. They trained for almost a month. But we managed to have an attitude. Despite the mistakes, we never lost our positive attitude and we managed to overcome the challenges of the match. Now it’s time to think about Argentina and look for another victory,” said coach José Neto.

AmeriCupW places in the top two for World Pre-Olympic and another four for Americas Pre-Olympic, one step ahead of World Pre-Olympic. In the last two editions of the tournament, the Brazilian team has won bronze.
