Toy Story 4: Died in 2017 How this actor was able to voice Mr. Potato

Ever since we first heard his rage on film in the original Toy Story in 1995, the lovable and funny Mr. Potato Head has always expressed himself in the voice of Don Rickles.

This American humorist and comedian, who provided the vocals for many of the sequels, series and attractions that followed, died in April 2017 (aged 90), more than two years before Toy Story 4 hit theaters. He had to play his role again.

However, we really hear his voice when Mr. Potato Head starts talking in the fourth adventure of the famous toy, which was released in 2019.

As the film’s director Josh Cooley said shortly before the film’s release, the comedian’s relatives actually asked Pixar studio artists to find a way to integrate Rickles’ voice into the feature film:

“Of course we loved Don and after his death his family contacted us and asked if there was a way we could do a play using our recordings.”– explained the director at the microphone Entertainment Weekly.

To offer the voice of their Mr. Potato head Don Rickles for the last time, the studio artists used all the vocal archives at their disposal, which the actor left since 1995.

“He signed on to be in Toy Story 4. Unfortunately, we didn’t get a chance to save him for the movie.”Cooley said.

“But we’ve looked at 25 years Anything we didn’t use for the first three Toy Story, amusement parks, ice shows, video games, everything he recorded for Mr. Potato Head. And we did it. I’m honored that they asked us to do it, and I’m also honored that he’s in the movie. No one can replace him.”

Will Pixar’s artists be able to do the same for Toy Story 5, which was recently announced by the studio and is due out in the next few years?
