The 51st edition of the Gramado Film Festival is about to take place and the organization of the event has revealed, this Tuesday (4), the list of nominees in all award categories. With more than a thousand titles registered, the curatorship has selected six Brazilian feature films, five feature-length documentaries, five features from Rio Grande do Sul and 23 short films from Rio Grande do Sul.
The team that selected the 23 short films from Rio Grande do Sul is made up of Chico Maximilla, visual artist, film director and producer; Juliana Costa, critic and researcher; Zeca Brito, filmmaker, director and screenwriter; Pedro Garcia, journalist and Fabi UD, director and multi-artist.
Many films have been presented and many good ones. Our research has been to maintain quality, always looking at creative productions that include innovative elements. Observing geographical and narrative diversity, giving space to established directors and new talents emerging in national productions, were also topics on which we joined.
Marcos Sanctuary, curator of the festival
As part of the programme, selected titles will be screened between 12 and 18 August, at the traditional Palácio dos Festivais, in Gramado. Winners will be revealed at the end of August 19th.
In all, 38 Kikitos (first prize awarded by the festival) will be awarded, as well as tributes with the Oscarito, Eduardo Abelin, Kikito de Cristal and Cidade de Gramado awards. The Sirmar Antunes Trophy is the great novelty of the edition, the result of a partnership between the festival and the Legislative Assembly.
