Giovanna Antonelli leaves Globo for HBO Max

After dedicating 23 years of her career to Globo, actress Giovanna Antonelli has a new home. She ended her contract with the Rio de Janeiro broadcaster in April 2023 and has now signed with Warner Bros Discovery to star in the telenovela ‘Beleza Fatal’, which will be broadcast on the HBO Max streaming platform.

In addition to being an actress, Giovanna Antonelli has also distinguished herself as an entrepreneur. She owns beauty clinics and has given motivational speeches to her followers.

In her latest telenovela on Globo, “Travessia” (2022), the actress saved the delegate Helô, a character relived ten years earlier in “Salve Jorge” (2012), hailing the broadcaster as one of her most important roles. And one of the determining factors for her change of scenery was the possibility of playing a completely different character from the ones she had played up to then.

Plot details of “Fatal Beauty”.

In the new project, Antonelli will star with big names such as Camila Pitanga (“Aruanas”), Caio Blat (“Império”), Murilo Rosa (“Araguaia”), Marcelo Serrado (“Fina Estampa”) and Herson Capri (“Tropicaliente “) .

She will play the matriarch of the Paixão family, who will adopt Sofia, Camila Queiroz’s character, after losing her young daughter to a medical error – committed by Lola’s clinic, played by Camila Pitanga. Sofia is adopted after seeing her mother arrested and dying because of the injustices also committed by Lola.

The new family will be united by grief and indignation against those responsible for their tragedies. As an adult, Sofia seeks revenge against Lola and all those who have wronged her. The plan will be interrupted due to a childhood love, which will make Sofia rethink her obstinacy.

The plot was written by Raphael Montes, author of the Netflix series “Bom Dia Verônica”, and will be directed by Maria de Médicis (“Segundo Sol”).

Recordings are expected to begin in the coming months, with a premiere slated for 2024.
