It hasn’t been available on Netflix since late 2022, and fans were shocked when the series left the platform’s catalog. For months, the streaming service continued to receive messages from the networks’ subscribers asking when the American giant was going to restore the rights.
And fans will be delighted, because this popular series in the 2000s, which became a flagship program on the platform that subscribers enjoyed reviewing, is finally back in the Netflix catalog.
This series is Gossip Girl. Josh Schwartz (Newport Beach) and Stephanie Savage (Dynasty)’s television adaptation of Cecile von Zigesar’s work followed the lives of New York’s golden youth for six seasons, narrated and enriched by a mysterious blogger.
From 2007 to 2012, Gossip Girl aired on the American channel CW and multiple broadcasts on TF1 group channels in France quickly became a phenomenon. The series entered popular culture and fans were able to re-watch the adventures of Blair, Serena, Nate, Chuck and company on Netflix for several years.
Subscribers are excited to see Gossip Girl again
Fans were devastated last December when they couldn’t (re)watch Gossip Girl on Netflix, but it’s official: the series is back in the catalog this Thursday, July 6.
And this news pleased the fans who were desperately waiting for news. In addition, Netflix shared screenshots of conversations with subscribers in an Instagram post to alert them to the good news.
Gossip Girl fans were quick to share their joy on social media when they found Blair, Danny, Serena, Nate and Chuck in New York City, with cookie-cutter fights, rich money problems, heartbreak and coups that would make Dynasty pale.
It’s unclear how long Netflix was able to renegotiate Gossip Girl’s streaming rights, so don’t waste any time if you want to watch the series again.
All six seasons of Gossip Girl are now available on Netflix.
