If it’s up to Tom Cruise, he’s still in Mission Impossible well into his 80s

Actor Harrison Ford concluded his journey as Indiana Jones at the age of 80 in the fifth installment of the series (“Indiana Jones and the Call of Destiny”). And Tom Cruise hopes he has that same longevity when it comes to playing Ethan Hunt in Paramount’s ‘Mission: Impossible’ franchise.

In an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald, published this week, the actor – who turned 61 last Monday (03) – said he wants to continue making films in the series until he is Ford’s age.

Harrison Ford is a legend. I have 20 years to achieve it. I hope to continue making ‘Mission: Impossible’ films until he’s old.

Although Ford ended his Indiana Jones career at age 80, he said in an interview with CNN in June that he has no plans to retire at this time.

I don’t feel good when I don’t have work. I love to work. I love to feel useful. I want to be helpful… and that happens to the people you work with. The intensity and intimacy of the collaboration.

Tom Cruise has also opened up about his photos that have gone viral. In them, he is shown holding movie tickets for Barbie, Oppenheimer and most recently Indiana Jones.

The actor admitted that he has not yet seen these films. But he plans to see them on their opening weekend. “I will see Oppenheimer first on Friday and then Barbie on Saturday,” he said.

I grew up watching movies on the big screen. That’s how I make them and enjoy the experience; it’s engaging and having that as a community and an industry is important. I still go to the cinema.
