Athlete of the Rio Tennis Academy, Rio de Janeiro, Ingrid Martins entered the Wimbledon doubles group at the last minute and shone with a resounding victory this Friday on the grass of the All England Club.

She and the Belarusian Lidziya Marozava defeated the British duo formed by Alicia Barnett and Olivia Nicholls for 2 sets to 0 with partials of 6/0 6/3 after 1h15min.

The Brazilian moved up to 58th in the world after winning her first WTA title at the 250 tournament in Bad Homburg, Germany with Marozava.

This is Ingrid’s second Grand Slam victory. She won on her debut at Roland Garros alongside Iryna Shymanovich and stopped in the second round.

In the second phase, in London, she and Marozava face the winning pair of the match between the Americans Alison Riske and Daniele Collins or the pair of Romanians Ana Bogdan and Jaqueline Cristian.
