Verstappen wins the British Grand Prix for his sixth consecutive victory of the season

Fast-paced towards his third championship, this Sunday the Dutch Max Verstappen won another round of Formula 1. The Red Bull Racing driver took advantage of the pole position and won the British GP, held at the Silverstone circuit .

As well as taking his sixth consecutive victory, Verstappen was also responsible for the fastest lap of the race, in 1min30s975. With this, the Dutchman secures an extra point in the drivers’ championship.

The podium was completed by two Englishmen. McLaren’s Lando Norris finished second, while Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton finished third. The two had a good battle up to the last laps, with the multiple champion unable to overtake the young driver.

Starting second, Norris also took the lead after the checkered flag, but saw his car overtaken by Verstappen after lap five. The Dutchman has been at the top ever since, while the fight for second position flared up after the 30th lap, with the entry of the Safety Car.

The disappointment of the weekend was due to the two Ferraris. Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, who started in fourth and fifth position, failed to run a good race finishing ninth and tenth respectively.

With the result, Max Verstappen extended his lead in the drivers’ standings, with 255 points. His Red Bull team-mate Sergio Pérez is second on 156, followed by Fernando Alonso on 137.

The next stop in Formula 1 will be in Budapest, Hungary, with the race scheduled for 23 July.
