Ridley Scott’s Napoleon biopic has finally been revealed! The trailer for the featurette starring Joaquin Phoenix, Vanessa Kirby, Tahar Rahim – seen at the beginning of the video – and Ludivine Sagnier has just been unveiled and promises an epic production.
Napoleon, which is almost as long as Ridley Scott’s previous film, traces the origins and rise of the French emperor through the prism of his relationship with his wife Josephine (Kirby).
Written by David Scarpa ( All the Money in the World ), the feature film here presents Ridley Scott’s vision and personal approach, as detailed by Apple in its press release accompanying the film’s theatrical release announcement.
The trailer begins in 1793, in the midst of the French Revolution, following the death of King Louis XVI. Paul Barras, played on screen by a Frenchman Tahar RahimNapoleon Bonaparte, then captain of the artillery, is entrusted with the defense of the coast of Provence.
From starting at the front to meeting Josephine, going through his battles (especially Austerlitz) and taking power, Napoleon promises a historical fresco full of action, twists and great battle scenes.

The film will be released in theaters on November 22. With the French media timeline imposing a 17-month gap between a film’s theatrical release and its release on the platform, the film won’t be available on Apple+ for French subscribers until April 2025.
