According to the coordinator of the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) in Recife, she survived only because she was hugging Mateus.

“He was swept under the beam that was above them. His body held that weight, avoiding the impact on Evelyn,” Leonardo Gomes told G1.

The teenager was taken to the Miguel Arraes hospital and transferred to the hospital da Restauração. He underwent surgery for a crush injury to his leg. The young woman is stable, but there are no discharge forecasts.
