“Sandman”: Netflix publishes release date, trailer and posters; watch

Netflix and Neil Gaiman revealed the release date of the “Sandman” series in a never-before-seen teaser during the Geeked Week digital event. The event features news on the company’s biggest productions and will be held this week.

The new “Sandman” teaser called “Debut Announcement” reveals more about The Dream’s journey, starring Tom Sturridge, in the highly anticipated Neil Gaiman comic book adaptation of Vertigo. The first season of “Sandman” will debut on August 5th.

The comics and the Netflix series follow Dream, an entity that rules space known as “the Dream”. Dream ends up imprisoned due to a ritual that aimed to trap his sister, Death. Imprisoned for 70 years, Sonho finally manages to free himself and, thus, we follow his journey back to the Dream.

In addition to the teaser, Mark Hamill, Luke Skywalker from “Star Wars”, has been announced as the voice of Merv Pumpkinhead. The series also got three new official posters.

Shortly before the announcement of the show’s premiere date, Neil Gaiman released one of the new posters with the following caption: “If you’re wondering when you’ll find out when the first season of Sandman is out, the answer is, anytime. Go to top Netflix Geeked and everything will be revealed. Well, not EVERYTHING, but the release date, anyway … “

Later, another poster, also of the main character Dream, was unveiled from the official profile of the series:

And then the profile also posted another poster, this time highlighting the demon hunter Johanna Constantine, played by Jenna Coleman:

The first season of “Sandman” will debut on Netflix on August 5th.
