The formation of the extratropical cyclone caused many gusts between 80 km/h and 120 km/h in southern Brazil
The extratropical cyclone that formed over Rio Grande do Sul on Wednesday July 12, 2023 generated highly charged clouds that caused abundant and voluminous rains and also intense gusts of wind.
In the process of the cyclone’s formation, storms and strong winds were observed in the three states of the southern region. Many gusts occurred during these thunderstorms, but some very strong gusts were caused by the action of the extratropical cyclone already formed in association with the local relief.
Chance of wind this Thursday
During this Thursday, July 13, the extratropical cyclone will still be near the coast of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina, with the possibility of causing strong wind gusts in the states of the southern region, in several areas of the Southeast and Central-West .
The most intense gusts during this Thursday 13 July are expected for the South Region, south and east of São Paulo and in the highest points of the mountains of Rio de Janeiro. Check out the infographic.
