The Gossip Girl series aired between 2007 and 2012, garnering fans all over the world, who continue to rewatch the 6 seasons to this day. This month the production returned to the Netflix catalog, as well as being available on HBO Max, being another streaming option for those who want to watch it.
The American plot tells the story of a group of young people studying at an elite high school in Manhattan, New York. However, the everyday life of luxury and money is affected by an anonymous person who begins to divulge the students’ great secrets.
Based on author Cecily von Ziegesar’s book series of the same name, Gossip Girl was developed by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage over the course of five years and was responsible for the debut of teenage actors who are currently big names in the film industry.

Synopsis: what Gossip Girl is about
The plot begins with the return of Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) to New York, after spending months in a boarding school. Once back, the extremely rich and popular girl becomes a kind of Gossip Girl, an anonymous person who feeds her website with the greatest secrets and intrigues of the students of the elite Constance Billard St. Judas school.
Serena joins her best friend, Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester), and boys Nate Archibald (Chace Crawford) and Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick), all students at the same school.
In addition to them, the brothers Dan (Penn Badgley) and Jenny Humphrey (Taylor Momsen) also begin to attract the attention of the “gossip girl”, especially after getting close to Serena. During the plot, even the Humphrey family, of humble origins and therefore often humiliated by millionaire students, is involved in the routine of betrayals, dramas and mysteries of the rich.

In addition to them, in the story are: Ed Westwick, (White Gold) as Chuck Bass; Chace Crawford (The Boys) as Nate Archibald; Taylor Momsen (The Grinch) as Jenny; and Jessica Szohr (The Interns) as Vanessa Abrams. Kelly Rutherford (Scream) and Matthew Settle (War Brothers) are part of the adult core, as are Lily and Rufus.

Gossip Girl reboot
The series won a 2021 reboot, showing the routine of fellow students at Constance Billard St. Jude’s School, nearly 10 years after the events of the original play.
Created by Joshua Safran and starring Jordan Alexander (Sacred Lies), Whitney Peak (Abracadabra) and Emily Alyn Lind (The Babysitter), the story brings a new Blog Girl, who seems to be tormenting them.
However, the production was not as successful as its predecessor, and was canceled after two seasons, with an announcement made by showrunner of the series in January 2023.
