Not far from there, Mark investigates the owner of the apartment occupied by Karine and her mother. He manages to get back with Gaillard, the manager of a real estate company in which Elizabeth has invested. He calls her into his office.
Gaillard confirms that Carine Garand’s former apartment is indeed owned by a real estate company. Mark then points out that according to his knowledge, the real estate company will make a very good capital gain by reselling this apartment.
The man replies that his information is incorrect. The apartment will not be sold, but will be re-rented to a modest family in need of rehabilitation.
