When Bird Box, its first title, was released on Netflix in December 2018, the film achieved a record: it became the most watched in the history of the platform. Inevitably, a sequel had to see the light of day, and it arrived on July 14, moving to Spain.
Titled Bird Box Barcelona, the feature film is not really a sequel, but a spin-off, the story of which unfolds along with the events of the first part. The concept obviously remains the same. When a mysterious force takes over the Earth, you must shut up to have any hope of survival.
When you watch the movie, the question arises: were the actors really blind?
The duo of directors and screenwriters Alex and David Pastors revealed their secretInterview Reported to the American site ComingSoon.net: It all depends on the actors and the scenes. “There are scenes that are too risky to play blind“, explains Alex Pastor.
Holes were drilled into the headgear during filming, before being filled in with special effects in post-production. This method is nicknamed “Ninja Turtle Headgear” by filmmakers.
Àlex Pastor still makes it clear that some people like to be completely blind in order to fully get into the skin of their character. “They refused to be blindfolded and wanted to go blind during the scenes… whatever helps them, we’re doing it!“
