We are in the middle of the Titanic. After one of the film’s most romantic scenes, in which Rose asks Jack to paint her portrait, the two lovers escape on an ocean liner to escape the dreaded Tin Valet. After crossing the huge engine room, they find themselves in a giant hangar where the cars of the richest passengers are kept.
There, in the back of the car, they give each other a physical gift for the first time. The famous scene is particularly memorable for the shot of Rose’s hand, which can be seen pressing against the tinted car window.
This impression, which undoubtedly still remains in the memory of many viewers, remained intact in real life. Indeed, as incredible as it may seem, it can still be seen on the window of the car used in the film, which was kept by James Cameron.

As evidenced by a photo posted on Twitter by the director of the Titanic in 2019, “The fingerprint is still there.”
(While Jack and Rose’s love story remains memorable, the film also mentions another beautiful, true romance)
And if the print has endured all these years, it’s for a very good reason. Indeed, as stated in the documentary Visionaries: James Cameron’s History of Science Fiction (Transferred by article MovieWeb), the handprint seen in the famous scene is not Kate Winslet’s, but James Cameron’s. To prevent it from disappearing, the director used a special spray to freeze the glass.
This print is just one of the many elements of the Titanic that have remained in the history of cinema.
