Changing actors in an ongoing series is a regular occurrence on television. Script evolution, scheduling issues, a child growing up too fast, or health reasons (as happened, for example, with Jordan Alsace, who decided to leave Superman and Lois to focus on mental health) sometimes force studios to change actors along the way.
The series In the Shadow of the Magnolias, whose Season 3 premieres Thursday, July 20 on Netflix, will take on a large part of this phenomenon. Kathy Townsend’s character, the daughter of Maddie (Joanna Garcia Swisher) and Billy (Chris Klein), will definitely change faces in this new burst of episodes.
Ella Grace Helton, who was seen in United We Fall, has joined the cast of the series. Young actress Bianca Berry will replace Tarantino, who left the series at the dawn of Season 3 due to scheduling issues.
The latter will soon appear on the poster of Lady in the Lake, a mini-series for Apple TV +, in which she will answer to Natalie Portman and Lupita Nyong’o.

The third season full of new challenges
Launching on Netflix in May 2020 and adapted from the novels by Cheryl Woods, In the Shadow of the Magnolias follows Maddie, Dana Sue (Brooke Elliott) and Helen (Heather Hadley), three best friends living in a small South Carolina town as they juggle careers, romantic relationships and between the family.
Season 2 of the drama series, which was released in February 2022, ended on numerous cliffhangers. After circling each other for several episodes, Ronnie and Dana Sue rekindle the fire, but Kathy, a mysterious woman who could be the mother of the family, is in trouble.
Helen, on the other hand, has to make a decision that could change her life, while Maddie discovers that her ex-husband Bill (Chris Klein) has given birth to another secret child, who is none other than Isaac (Chris Medlin), the new manager of the restaurant.
During this new round of episodes, our three heroes will have to deal with all these problems and have to deal with the inevitable complications that follow, all while continuing to sip margaritas.
