This comes from 10 Cloverfield Street director Dan Trachtenberg, and while Predator films, even those of directors with serious credentials in the genre have been fickle (and much, unfortunately, lost) the new look Prey offers real hope.
It is the story of a young woman, Naru (Amber Midthunder), a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She grew up in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters to roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her encampment, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she eventually tracks down and confronts turns out to be a highly evolved predatory alien with a technically advanced arsenal, which results in a cruel and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.
Cast primarily with Native American and First Nations actors (including Dakota Beavers, Stormee Kipp, Michelle Thrush, Julian Black Antelope), the new film promises a full crossover action film of something like this. born again (and not just because a bear is sick).
