What is it about?

An unlikely trio of agents investigates strange occurrences. In this case, they discover the presence of a shameful conspiracy in their company…

who is he with

The Netflix movie features a trio of actors we never imagined working together. John Boyega (Star Wars), Jamie Foxx and Teyonah Parris (Wandavision, The Marvels) star as a dealer, pimp and prostitute in They Clone Tyrone. Kiefer Sutherland is also notable there.

Is it worth seeing?

When you start watching them clone Tyrone without even seeing the trailer, you wonder what drug Jules Taylor was using to create him. The director takes us on a psychedelic journey about a secret elevator hidden in a church, a secret laboratory and all kinds of scientific tests. With the grain of the imagery, the funky music and the typology of its title, we quickly realize that this is a strong homage to Blaxploitation (70s).

A far cry from Netflix’s usual and over-the-top movies (but which are still hits), this satirical comedy falls into the category of rather small curiosities that the platform serves up from time to time. The ones that almost never make the top 10… and still deserve a look.

Many will miss the way because the movie is so strange and we have no landmarks: we don’t know what year we are in or what American city we are in. But Jules Taylor slowly reveals her cards, turning their cloned Tyrone into a clever political pamphlet inspired by the work of Spike Lee or Jordan Peele. True, we have to wait until the last quarter of the feature film to get the long-awaited answers, but we have to wait until the end of 2 hours to understand Jules Taylor’s proposal.

But the strength of They Cloned Tyrone lies in its cast. Trust us, after watching the movie, you’ll only want one thing: to see Jamie Foxx, Teyonah Parris, and John Boyega together on TV. The trio entertains us as investigators 2.0 and serves up some very funny scenes and unmatched energy. The dialogues, ultra pointed, blend in all directions. And it’s a real treat.

They cloned Tyrone to watch on Netflix.
