Religious say it is necessary to ‘protect our common home’
Pope Francis asked the leaders of the countries on Sunday (23) to act more concretely on the climate.
During the celebration of the traditional Angelus, the head of the Catholic Church recalled the extreme weather events that are taking place around the world.
“On the one hand, various regions are affected by freak heat waves and devastating fires. On the other hand, in many places there are storms and floods, such as those that have hit South Korea these days”.
The religious reiterated his closeness to the people affected by the phenomena, as well as asking for more concrete actions on the subject by the rulers.
“I renew my appeal to the leaders of nations to do something more concrete to limit polluting emissions, it is an urgent and urgent challenge. Let us protect our common home”, commented the Pontiff.
In addition to talking about the climate crisis, the Pope also dwelt on migration. At the Angelus, which welcomed about 20,000 people, Francis hoped that the Mediterranean would no longer be a “theater of death and inhumanity”.
Finally, the religious renewed his appeals for peace in Ukraine, as well as having regretted the Russian attacks in Odessa.
