During San Diego Comic-Con (via ComingSoon ), Adult Swim released the first Rick and Morty: The Anime teaser, revealing what appears to be an introduction to the show.
Like the original series, the mini-trailer shows Rick and Morty going on various adventures while the credits roll. The teaser also showcases the show’s unique animation style, as well as new looks for characters like Rick, Morty, Summer and more.
At the end of the video, you can also hear a bit of the original theme music from the beloved series.

In a post released after the trailer, Takashi Sano, who is the director of the anime, addressed the fans and said that he is a big fan himself. Rick and Morty And he promised the series would pay homage to its “unique Japanese flair.”
Here is the message in full:
“Good morning. I’m Sano, the director of Rick and Morty: The Anime. And as a director, I want to assure you that I am also a huge fan of the original Rick and Morty. I believe Rick and Morty has a lot of fans all over the world. And I’m really glad that I was chosen from each of them to create a new Rick and Morty story. But it comes with a lot of pressure because the original is so well done. What I tried to achieve in these 10 episodes is to take my favorite parts of Rick and Morty, compress them to extract their essence, and then add a unique Japanese touch.“
What do we know about anime?
Rick and Morty: The Anime Ten episodes will feature the director Takashi Sano (Tower of God) So. The latter was also behind two very popular anime shorts: Rick and Morty vs. Genocide and Summer Meets God (Rick Meets Evil) – which are probably a big source of inspiration behind the development of future anime.
Besides those Takashi SanoAdult Swim has previously released anime-style Rick and Morty shorts, including the first Samurai and Shogunin March 2020. A sequel was released in November 2020, followed by a third animated short series based on the series, The Great Yokai Battle of AkihabaraReleased in October 2021.
