Deadpool 3: everything we already know about the movie

Recently, the press has released new images from the Deadpool 3 recordings, leaving fans with more anxiety and anticipation for the new film in the franchise. The release was pushed from November to May 2024, being the first film of the franchise with the seal of Marvel Studios.

Following Disney’s purchase of 20th Century Fox, the possibility arose for the film to enter the same universe as the Avengers, Spider-Man, and other MCU heroes. Ryan Reynolds, who plays Deadpool in the franchise, and director Shawn Levy are producing the film along with Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios.

The released photos have caused a huge internet uproar, as they show Wolverine wearing the classic yellow and blue costume from the comics. Also, there is the anticipated return of actress Jennifer Garner as the anti-heroine Elektra, twenty years after her appearance on the big screen.

Return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine

Last year, on November 28, Ryan Reynolds posted a video on his YouTube channel together with Hugh Jackman, to confirm the star’s presence in the Deadpool sequel.

This was a big announcement, as Jackman has been playing James “Logan” Howlett (Wolverine’s real name) since the first X-Men movie, which came out in 2001. After starring in nine movies as the character, the actor had finished his run in the franchise after starring in Logan, since 2017.

In the promotional video, Reynolds and Jackman state that the story of Deadpool 3 takes place years before the events of Logan, whose storyline takes place in 2029. Earlier in January 2021, Ryan Reynolds mentioned on Twitter that the third film will be “a Rashomon-style journey between Wolverine and Deadpool.

The reference is to Japanese director Akira Kurosawa’s historical drama, in which three characters give different versions of a heinous crime committed in a village.

Reveal of the uniform that will be worn by Wolverine

Recently, Ryan Reynolds has published in his stories on Instagram the costume that will be used by his “rival” in the film. In the new feature, Logan will wear an outfit very similar to the classic comic in yellow and blue. The outfit was designed by cartoonist John Romita Sr in 1974, during the mutant’s first comic book appearance, alongside the Hulk.

Other photos released to the press show behind-the-scenes moments, where Wolverine and Deadpool are in possible combat in a deserted area.

Elektra is back, with Jennifer Garner

Played by actress Jennifer Garner in the films Daredevil (2003) and Elektra (2005), the anti-heroine Elektra will return in Deadpool 3, according to exclusive information from The Hollywood Reporter.

The Daredevil and Elektra films were produced by 20th Century Fox, now owned by Disney, as were the first two films of the fast-talking mercenary. However, as yet, no images of the actress on set have been released, nor any further details on her participation in the film.

In the comics, Elektra is a mercenary assassin who is in a relationship with the hero Daredevil. The actress playing the character also recently starred with Reynolds in The Adam Project, a long-running Netflix comedy adventure also produced by Shawn Levy.
