This is the rumor that set the network ablaze this weekend: Josephine, Guardian Angel is set to bow out after more than 25 years on the air. In any case, that’s what Clement Garin, a former Touche columnist on Not My Post, said in a tweet posted on Saturday, July 22.

“End with a round of applause for #JoséphineAngeGardien. After twenty-seven years on the air, the @MimieMathyOff-directed series will end in 2024 after 105 episodes. DEMD just started writing the last episode,” he wrote.

Very quickly, the rumor spread on the Internet, reaching the main stakeholder and TF1, who denied the information.

Faced with Clement Garin’s revelations, TF1 reacted quickly by issuing a clear message. “Judgment Joséphine Ange Gardien by TF1 = Nothing!Mileys Carchabal, the network’s director of communications, wrote on Twitter.

A few hours later, it was Mimi Matty, the star of Josephine’s Guardian Angel, who took the floor to record. “For those who spread the #rumor about #JoséphineAngeGardien ending in 2025: we’re shooting year 2 and year 3 next year. And we are on episode 125” he explained before adding “Josephine still has big missions to do!“.

A clear message that leaves little doubt about the future of Josephine, the guardian angel. However, over the past few years, TF1’s flagship series, which launched in 1997, has suffered a decline in viewership, which supports the hypothesis of Mimi Matt’s imminent end to fiction.

If in the 2000s an episode of Josephine, Guardian Angel managed to gather up to 10 million viewers, today these figures are much lower. Thus, TF1 averaged only 3.6 million subscribers last season.
