    Albert Saint John you will step into the shoes of one of the most iconic fashion designers in “Balenciaga” (working title), the Disney+ original series that will tell the story of the man who, through his natural talent, perseverance and business acumen, dared to challenge his social status as the son of a seamstress and a fisherman, becoming in one of the most relevant designers of all time.

    Saint John joins in “Balenciaga” (provisional title) to a team led by the creators of “Loreak”, “Handia” and “La trench infinite” (winners of 13 Goya awards), Jose Mari Goegana, Jon Garaño and Aitor Arregiwriters along with Lourdes Iglesias, and directors of this series that portrays an enigmatic man with extraordinary talent who defied the social conventions of the time and revolutionized the world of fashion. “As soon as Alberto San Juan arrived at the rehearsal, we felt that we had found our Cristóbal Balenciaga. We are very proud to have him. His dedication and involvement in the project is total. He is the absolute protagonist, present in almost all the scenes of the series and playing a fashion designer, which implies learning to sew or to manipulate a fabric”, say Goenaga, Garaño and Arregi.

    The ambitious first Spanish production of Disney+ It arrives with a meticulous work of investigation and recreation. The costume designer Bina Daigeler, nominated for an Oscar for the live-action film “Mulan” by Walt Disney Studios, and costume designer Pepo Ruiz Dorado, direct a department of 30 people that is recreating the designs of the Getaria master. They are joined by a team of 100 professionals and 2,000 extras who, during the eighteen weeks that the filming lasts, play a hundred characters. “Balenciaga” (working title), which takes place from the Spanish Civil War to the early 1970s, will be filmed on more than 90 sets in Spain (Basque Country, Navarra and Madrid) and France (Paris, Bordeaux and Toulouse) .

    The title, which will consist of 6 50-minute episodes, is part of The Walt Disney Company’s plan to develop and produce 60 original series by 2024. Currently, the list is already made up of 21 titles, including 16 TV series. fiction and 5 documentaries or docu-series from the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands.
