Luan’s time at Corinthians is coming to an end. The attacking midfielder has brought forward the termination of his contract with Timão and will return to Grêmio, where he was elected King of America in 2017.
To remove Luan from Imortal, in December 2019, the Juventus board paid out R$ 28.9 million to hire him. The athlete will give up the salaries he would be entitled to until the end of the season to return to play under Renato Gaúcho, and the São Paulo club will have to pay the attacking midfielder eight months of delayed image rights, which represent something between R $ 4.5 and 5 million.
Luan’s salaries at the São Paulo club amounted to R$800,000 a month. From his arrival until his retirement, Timão spent around R $ 37 million on the athlete’s salaries alone.
Considering the amount of the transfer paid to Grêmio and the salary, the “Luan package” cost the coffers of Corinthians around R$ 65 million.
The cheapness of the former Timão number 7 shirt is one of the biggest annoyances of the fans. With just nine goals in 78 games for the club, every ball in Luan’s net cost Corinthians around R$7.2 million.
