It’s a great time to be a horror fan, as the genre has been enjoying an exciting revival for several years now. Some best horror movies returned to theaters through legacy sequels, including the fifth Scream movie. And franchise icon David Arquette recently reacted to Neve Campbell’s departure from the sixth film.

She cited salary negotiations as the reason she sat on the slasher, seemingly putting the project in limbo in the process. David Arquette has starred alongside Campbell in all five films so far, surprisingly killing in the most recent sequel. I wish you were a part of it. A Scream movie without Sidney is a little unfortunate, but I understand her decision. In a way, it’s quite a bargain, they have to balance all of these elements to stick to a budget and produce a film. I get it, she is still alive! She [can] absolutely be in the future, but I think fans have to ask for it in the future. […] It’s sudden, even if it’s a business. I respect your decision, no doubt.
Well now you have it. Dewey himself cannot imagine a Scream movies without Neve Campbell’s queen of screams, and neither are the fans. And while he understands the reasoning behind Campbell’s decision, David Arquette also admits that he’d love to see her appear in the developing sequel. Could the people at Paramount change their minds and strike a new deal? Only time will tell.
Although there was never a guarantee that Neve Campbell would play Sidney Prescott scream 6, fans speculated that he would return somehow. Meanwhile, the House of Cards actress said she would decision based on the script of the film . But it turned out that it was ultimately a financial dispute.
Ever since David Arquette was murdered in 2022 Scream, this sixth upcoming film may be the least tied to the main characters we’ve ever seen. Without Dewey or Sidney, it is I could count on Courteney Cox to carry the flashlight from the original Wes Craven films as Gale Weathers. Fortunately, another returning player returns to the big screen in the form of Kirby by Hayden Panettiere scream 4 .
Clearly the cast of scream 6 joined with Ready or Not directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett) once again behind the camera. Four actors leading the cast from scream 5 will be back: Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Jasmin Savoy Brown and Mason Gooding. Newcomer Dermot Mulroney is also ready for a role in the developing slasher.
