All of them are confirmed in the third season of the series that will also have Steve Blackmanco-creator of the series with Jeremy SlaterWhat showrunner.
“Honestly, I wasn’t expecting such success,” confesses an emotional Blackman. “But I knew I had something special, we had a really special show. The cast was wonderful, we were like family the whole time we were together. We hoped it would be a hit but then you wonder, ‘Will it be appealing enough to the public?’ That’s one of the key things that Netflix asked of me when I came on the project. They said, ‘Look, we want this to have broad appeal.’ There are certain shows in the superhero genre that are much darker, have swearwords, and are R-rated. . We weren’t allowed to do that so it was a little more difficult, in a way, to tell stories. We had to hide things and make double entendres. So it was a challenge but I knew the characters were wonderful. I thought if I I loved these characters and watched them, other people would. But I was very pleasantly surprised to see it go global.”
“I wanted to be very respectful of the source material,” he notes. “The wonderful thing is that I have a great relationship with Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá and from the beginning we realized that I couldn’t do a carbon copy of the graphic novel. It was a non-linear storytelling, there’s a lot of wild stuff that didn’t I could afford to do economically. So once we agreed that these things could co-exist and didn’t have to be the same, I was free to do other things.”
Let us remember that, despite the apparent happy ending of the second season, when we saw the protagonists return to 2019, they discovered that everything was as they remembered, especially with the appearance of The Sparrow Academy. Ben forgetful, Reginald aging and a new team of young superheroes in the shadows, BUT WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN HERE!
