A new animated Ghostbusters series, the famous Ghostbusters, will arrive on Netflix in the future, with Jason Reitman tied to the project.
The development of the new animated series by Netflix has been unveiled by Variety. There aren’t many details on the project yet, but Sony Pictures Animations is already known to be working on the series and Ghost Corps, Inc.’s Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan are attached to the new Ghostbusters animated series as executive producers.
This isn’t the first time Ghostbusters gets an animated adaptation. In 1986, the franchise gave rise to the animated series which had 7 seasons called “The Real Ghostbusters”, or simply “The Ghostbusters” in Brazil. The plot of the new series has yet to be revealed and no screenwriters have been formally announced. With this, it is not yet known what the focus of the story will be.
On the one hand, many fans are likely to cheer on an adventure from the original Ghostbusters team, which included Peter Venkman (Bill Murray), Ray Stantz (Dan Aykroyd), Ego Spengler (Harold Ramis), and Winston Zeddemore (Ernie Hudson). However, it is possible that the idea is to highlight the protagonists of “Ghostbusters: Beyond”, a film directed by Reitman, starring Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace and Paul Rudd.
The release date for the Ghostbusters animated series has yet to be announced. The series also doesn’t have an official name released so far.
