‘Joker’ Sequel To Be: Director Todd Phillips Reveals Working Title For Joaquin Phoenix Sequel

_______________________________

On the eve of the director of the Oscar-winning “Joker” in 2019, Todd Phillips published the cover of the script on his blog and revealed the working title of the sequel. The film will be called “Joker: Folie à Deux”. Fans of the franchise immediately deciphered the meaning: it turns out that Folie à Deux is a mental disorder in which the same crazy ideas are observed in several people at once, which gives some understanding of the plot of the future picture. Some have already suggested that Harley Quinn will appear in the picture.

With the second photo, the director posted a snapshot of 47-year-old Joaquin Phoenix, who is already busy studying the script. However, Warner Bros. so far they remain silent and refrained from commenting on other details.

In addition, the network is already circulating the rumor that the female lead in the second “Joker” will be played by Lady Gaga, although Phoenix offers her lover, the star of “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” Rooney Mara, for this position. Note that for the first film, the actor had to radically lose weight by several tens of kilograms. We suspect that we will soon begin to notice the transformation of the Phoenix, returning to the role of the famous psychopath.

Recall that in the film “Joker” the creators seriously rethought the image of the main villain of the Batman films, explaining his behavior as a severe mental disorder that causes uncontrollable fits of laughter, and subsequently cruelty. The hero of Phoenix tries to survive in gangster Gotham, works as an animator clown and dreams of a career as a stand-up comedian, but on his way he encounters unprecedented bullying. Such a Joker aroused the compassion of the audience, and, despite the lack of impressive special effects, the picture instantly paid off at the box office by almost 20 times.

The picture received 11 Oscar nominations and as a result was awarded two statuettes in the categories “Best Actor” and “Best Music for the Film”. The audience did not doubt the continuation, although Todd Phillips himself had previously stated that his film was a finished work.
