The announcements came yesterday, June 8, on the 38th anniversary of the premiere of ‘Ghostbusters’.
Sony Pictures, the director Jason Reitman and the producer of Ghost Corps Inc. Gil Kenan yesterday celebrated theGhostbusters day‘ announcing a new animated series for Netflix and two new movies: The sequel to ‘Ghostbusters: Beyond’ and an animated movie.
The June 8, 1984 ‘Ghostbusters’ premiered, and every year around this time the anniversary is celebrated with a panel of news and memories about the characters in the saga. On this occasion, in addition to the announcement of new installments of the franchise universe, the deceased was honored Ivan Reitmann (director of the first two films) with the naming of a street in his honor at Sony Studios in Culver City. A virtual reality training simulator entitled ‘Ghostbusters VR Academy‘ and a series of comics that will unite the two films of the new ‘Ghostbusters: Beyond’ saga and will be published by Dark Horse.

Netflix will also join the ‘Ghostbusters’ universe by premiering a new animated series, which will be the third in the franchise’s history after ‘The real Ghostbusters’ (1986) and ‘The return of the Ghostbusters‘ (1997), which made the ghost Moquete a recurring character in the saga.


During the presentation it was also confirmed that the sequel to ‘Ghostbusters: Beyond’ will return to the original setting of the films in New York: the mythical refurbished fire station. The new film has been co-written by Reitman and Kenan.
The sequel to ‘Ghostbusters: Beyond’ will come after the success of the first installment, which garnered more than 200 million dollars at the box office with an estimated budget of 75 million.
