First reactions to ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’: From ‘better than ever’ to ‘worst in the franchise’

The first critics of ‘Jurassic World 3’ have been polarized in social networks

The first reactions of the North American media about ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ have already come to light on social networks and opinions are being very differentwith people who describe it as ‘bigger and better than ever‘ and others who claim it is ‘the worst of the entire franchise‘.

Although the film will not hit US screens until Friday (in Spain, Thursday June 9), Universal made an advance release last weekend in 15 international markets that reported an initial $55 million at the box office, being the best premiere in Mexico and Korea.

That ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ will be a box office bomb Nobody denies it, but the first opinions are more polarized than normal. It is difficult to find a recent blockbuster that has generated such conflicting reactions in recent years.

Let’s go with the positive ones first, like the one from the Collider reviewer Perri Nemiroff highlighting the work of Bryce DallasHoward:

“#JurassicWorldDominion offers a great mix of practical and digital effects. The dinosaurs look GREAT. The Dimetrodon scene is… This is my thing. Bryce Dallas Howard is out in the movie – and in the new trilogy, for that matter. Claire experiences a great arc and Howard flies with it.”

Variety’s review Tangcay Jazz he also praised the film stating that “dinosaurs are bigger and better than ever.”

“#jurassicworlddominion is a big, roaring, fun adventure. Dinosaurs are bigger and better than ever. It’s non-stop dinosaur action. And the return of Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum and Sam Neill hits the nostalgic sweet spot. I just love them.”

Kristen Acuna Insider highlights the reunion of the original cast with the characters from the new trilogy:

#JurassicWorldDominion is at its best when the old and new cast are together. Fans of the franchise should enjoy this. Lots of nods to the original. I recommend giving it a close review.”

Erik Davisof RottenTomatoes and Fandango, has been another of the enthusiasts stating that ‘Jurassic World 3’ is his favorite film of the new franchise:

“GOOD NEWS: #JurassicWorldDominion is my favorite movie from the new Jurassic trilogy. It’s packed with exciting dinosaur encounters and so much more from Jeff Goldblum, but it also has a great balance of creepy and inventive settings with a few nods to what came before. A solid ending.”

But not all the news is so good as announced by fellow Erik Davis. A large number of critics have called the film “bad”, “nonsense” and even “the worst of the franchise“, for example Courtney Howard of Variety and German Lussier from io9.

#JurassicWorldDominion = BAD. It ignores the premise it should have had from the start, and instead synthetically designs 2 completely different, uninteresting, hollow stories that it struggles to connect. Some effects look polished, others rough. The worst of the franchise.”

“Truly, Jurassic World Dominion is bad. Very bad. It’s too long, it’s wildly repetitive, and the dinosaurs are a showcase for multiple uninteresting and unrelated stories. The actors do their best, but it’s all too self-indulgent and pointless. One of the worst in the franchise, if not the worst.”

The negative reviews have continued to appear:

#JurassicWorldDominion is absolutely terrible. It’s like brainstorming dinosaur-centric theme park attractions and putting them into a movie. Insects are more prominent than dinosaurs. A failure on all fronts with bankrupt ethics. Keep what you worked so hard to earn.”

“My gut reaction after leaving #JurassicWorldDominion is that it’s worst movie in a franchise i love. It’s too long the action sequences are downright ugly and overall too bloated. On the other hand, I smiled at heartbeats of nostalgia and baby dinosaurs like, that too?”

“Jurassic Park is timeless because it combined spectacle with substance. Dominion, on the other hand, is all spectacle that offers nothing new. Nothing is resolved. The questions remain unanswered. Scenes that are only there to fill in. The worst movie in the franchise.”
