See how the Razr 40 Ultra performs in a selfie comparison between its two cameras and against the iPhone 14 Pro and Xiaomi 13 Pro
The foldable phone makes taking selfies easy, but do they look good? I grabbed the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra for a selfie comparison between the internal and external cameras. I also took the iPhone 14 Pro and the Xiaomi 13 Pro to see if the foldable Motorola he is good at self-portrait.

See the result in five environments with different types of lighting below. Let’s find out if the Motorola Razr 40Ultra it’s good for selfies and if there is much difference between its different cameras.
External environment: good lighting
In a park with lots of light, all cell phones work fine, with a few spots to watch out for. OR iPhone 14Pro achieves a great level of texture, accurate colors, with nice saturation for a selfie. The Razr 40 Ultra performs very well in all these senses on the internal camera, but loses saturation on the external one.

OR Xiaomi 13Pro it’s also fine, but with less saturation. Personally I prefer the more saturated photos of the other models. But the texture level of the Chinese device is slightly inferior to the others. I’ve zoomed in quite a bit on all the images and the details of the beard are lost more Xiaomi 13Pro.
External environment: backlight
In a backlit environment, we have roughly the same results in this selfie comparison. However, the Razer 40 Ultra’s internal camera is less efficient at preventing flares. The sunlight didn’t look so good, at least in my opinion, in the photo with the selfie camera of the Motorola phone. The external one took advantage of the 4:3 aspect ratio and cropped the Sun from the image.

It is interesting to note that here the Xiaomi 13 Pro has achieved a better texture level than in the photo where, theoretically, the light is more favorable. The iPhone 14 Pro produced a nice glow, achieved a good level of colors and great textures. Again, I found the best photo out of the four.
External environment: shade
In the shade, the Razr 40 Ultra is already starting to lose some of its textures, moving away from its competitors in this regard. And this applies to both the internal and external cameras. Even the internal colors are a little more similar to those of the Xiaomi 13 Pro, with a more marked contrast.

The iPhone 14 Pro maintains a high bar, with excellent textures, colors and dynamic range. Once again it is the photo that, in general, I liked the most among the four photographed in the scenario.
Internal environment: good lighting
And then the selfie comparison comes to a twist. In good lighting, outdoors, you would expect high-end spec cell phones to perform well. It’s when the lighting starts to get more challenging that the bug kicks in.
The Xiaomi 13 Pro achieves a good level of texture, but I didn’t like the way my skin turned yellow. The iPhone 14 Pro was better in this regard, with a good level of texture and excellent dynamic range. Also, she has a slightly rusty white skin tone, closer to how I usually see myself.

Next we have the Razr 40 Ultra’s internal camera, which is also very good, but slightly darker than the external one. However, I found this second one to have lost textures, perhaps to compensate for the slight loss of light. That is, the dynamic range of the internal camera was more balanced in this scenario.
Indoor environment: poor lighting
In a place with low artificial light, all mobile phones lose some textures and suffer more from color accuracy. Even so, I found all the results to be quite satisfying. Even the Xiaomi 13 Pro, which was nearly textureless and pretty much took the marks off my face.

The iPhone 14 Pro once again achieved the most balanced result. I found the Razr 40 Ultra’s internal camera, again, better in terms of texture and saturation than the external one.
Razr 40 Ultra x iPhone 14 Pro x Xiaomi 13 Ultra Selfie comparison
The iPhone 14 Pro was the more balanced of the “quartet”, considering that we have photos with an internal and external camera from the Razr 40 Ultra. The Xiaomi 13 Pro was the one that disappointed me the most, which gives an indication of the importance of the partnership with Leica, which is only for the rear camera.
Speaking of Motorola’s foldable, I found that the external camera, which is theoretically better, only worked better for selfies in one scenario. The Intern seems to do best for these self-portraits, perhaps because he’s calibrated for just that.
