Sci-fi movies don’t always get their predictions right, but this blockbuster nailed it.

The first Back to the Future was a resounding success. The logical consequence: a sequel. Back to the Future 2 comes very close to being a perfect sequel. The sci-fi blockbuster returns to the familiar formulas of its predecessor without resting on them. The second part does not escape the rule in any scene and is not “just” a continuation. And that’s exactly what the film teases with a seemingly unrealistic prophecy.




What is Back to the Future 2 about?

Having just returned from the past, Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) must accompany Dr. Brown (Christopher Lloyd) into the future. Because in 2015 your family falls on hard times. The future mission is successful, but it has unexpected consequences at different time levels. Marty has triggered a butterfly effect and now has to fix both the past and the present.

The Back to the Future 2 joke seems quite real today

The first part of the film takes place in 2015, that is, largely in our present. However, director Robert Zemeckis was a little more optimistic about technical developments. Unfortunately, 34 years later, hoverboards and flying cars still don’t exist.
