New on Netflix: This movie is one of Ben Affleck’s biggest regrets

Like many actors, Ben Affleck has not only had commercial success in his career. Daredevil was one of them. In 2003, the actor – then at the peak of his career – stepped into the shoes of Hell’s Kitchen superhero Matt Murdock.

A lawyer by day, a superhero by night, the man has incredibly developed hearing, smell, strength and speed. Although he is blind, his radar sense allows him to navigate and avoid the slightest obstacle. Relentlessly, this tortured creature roams the streets of New York chasing down all kinds of criminals that he can’t bring to justice…

When it comes out in theaters, it’s a cold shower. The audience and the press are not convinced either in the realization and poor quality of the battles, nor in the plot, and even more so in Ben Affleck’s acting. And it’s not Jennifer “Electra” Garner, Michael Clarke Duncan as Kaid or Colin Farrell as Bulls who have raised the bar again.

Far from a disaster compared to the other superhero movies that have come out since then, Daredevil will still deal one hell of a blow to Ben Affleck’s career, which has seen several commercial failures since then.

Only in 2014, the actress, during the promotion of the then gone girl, admitted how much This failure marked him :”I regret all my films that were not done right. I am very difficult and demanding with myself and I want to do a great job, even if I don’t always succeed“.

With an audience rating of 2/5 on AlloCiné, Daredevil is one of the lowest rated films of his career. Either way, his performance will chill comic book fans enough that some of them protested in 2014 against Ben Affleck portraying Batman in the new Warner films. In an interview with South American media, the actor reveals that he accepted DC’s offer to forgive him for playing Daredevil.

What he didn’t know at the time was that his Batman adventure would be long and exhausting. A role that will drain him physically and creatively, as he revealed a few months ago. Proof that Ben Affleck needs to stop making superhero movies once and for all, right?
